Every cellphone since the 90s have had an efficient task notification feature. But I have never been able to find one for windows. The only programs I've ever found the gives some of the functionality are large, heavy programs like Office Outlook, which you don't want running in the background unless you have to.
Would it be possible to create a (preferably small and portable :p) application which you could tell to remind you of tasks and birthdays and whatever?

Ive actaully just about finsiehd writting something like this! There will be a new website shortly (tasks.roadkil.net) which will keep track of all your tasks, calendar events and email you reminders when big things pop up! :)
